Central L.A. High School

Los Angeles, CA

Through the course of the project, Marina's project management team identified several opportunities to save money for the Los Angeles Unified School District. Marina installed artificial turf instead of sod on the playing fields, and helped to plan and develop a cost-effective drainage system. Combined with Marina's slope work, these solutions gave back to the school district over $1.4 million in savings. Marina faced many challenges on this project, including preservation of 30 historic Canary Island Date Palms, tree pruning amidst high-voltage power lines, last minute plan changes and limited access to the school's central courtyard. Marina was able to complete the project on time and under budget, and performed extended maintenance to keep the campus looking beautiful after the school had opened.
